The day concludes with a traditional Tharu meal, followed by vibrant and colorful dances that celebrate the struggles, joys, and stories of the Tharu people.

Forage in the forest to craft donas, small natural bowls, and take part in agricultural activities such as pressing mustard oil, harvesting corn, and preparing rice fields.

Learn to wear a traditional sari and get hands-on experience with local cooking, from preparing chapatis over a wood fire to making momos.

Preparation & Departure 🚶

Depart from the lodge on foot to a nearby Tharu village. Along the way, Daman shares stories and insights about this iconic Terai community.

Morning 🏡

Explore the village’s narrow streets, traditional houses, and local crafts. Participate hands-on by making chapatis or momos, and help collect sal leaves to craft traditional donas (natural bowls).

Afternoon 👗

After lunch, continue your immersion with a sari-wearing lesson and, depending on the season, engage in agricultural activities such as pressing mustard oil, harvesting corn, or preparing rice fields.

Evening 🎶

Enjoy a traditional dinner in a Tharu home, followed by a lively evening of songs and dances celebrating Tharu culture.
