Safaris and Traditions Tour – 7 Days of Nature and Culture Immersion

Day 1 | Nepalgunj

Arrive at Nepalgunj Airport and transfer to your lodge. Daman hosts an information session to present the safari itinerary, safety guidelines, and answer any questions. Time permitting, explore a nearby village. Dinner is included at the lodge.

Day 2 | Bardiya National Park

Depart from the lodge in a jeep, which will remain at the park entrance. Proceed on foot, moving slowly and attentively. No stops are pre-planned—each moment depends on tracks, sounds, or rustling in the foliage. Enjoy a picnic in the park while staying alert to wildlife before continuing your exploration.

Day 3 | Immersion in Tharu Culture

Spend a full day immersed in traditional Tharu village life, participating in daily routines such as foraging, cooking, handicrafts, and other local activities. In the evening, experience the magic of traditional dances, performed at the village temple, and celebrate the richness of Tharu heritage.

Days 4 & 5 | Bardiya National Park

Spend two days on a jeep safari, including an overnight bivouac deep in the heart of the park.

Travel slowly along tracks and through forests, staying alert to signs and movements in the jungle. Occasionally, a quiet walk is needed to reach waterholes or prime observation points. Evenings are spent around the campfire, enveloped by the sounds of the wild and the unique atmosphere of the jungle.

On the second day, after the park closes, visit the Crocodile Breeding Center, the Elephant Breeding Center, and the Tharu Cultural Museum. Return to the lodge at the end of the day, your heart full of unforgettable memories.

Day 6 | Badaiya Lake – Kairapur

Meet the elegant Black Buck antelopes and explore the region’s natural wonders.

Start the day at Badaiya Lake, a sanctuary for hundreds of migratory birds, observed in their natural habitat. Enjoy a traditional lunch at the Tharu park restaurant. In the afternoon, travel to Kairapur, where you may witness a spectacular sight: a herd of nearly 300 antelopes roaming freely in pristine surroundings.

Day 7 | Nepalgunj

Spend a peaceful morning at the lodge, relaxing, soaking in the jungle atmosphere, and sharing your final travel memories. After lunch, return to Nepalgunj for your onward flight, carrying with you unforgettable images and moments from your adventure.

A Visit to Khairapur’s Blackbuck Herd

Explore the birds of Badalaiya Lake and the nearby Blackbuck Conservation Area, just outside Bardiya National Park. In this expansive 172-hectare plain, you may witness a rare spectacle: a herd of 293 blackbucks grazing freely—a unique opportunity to observe this graceful and iconic species up close in a protected environment.

Immerse yourself in Tharu culture by exploring traditional village homes. Villagers will warmly welcome you, sharing their way of life, customs, and history. Through heartfelt exchanges, hands-on experiences with local crafts, and participation in daily routines, this visit offers an authentic encounter with a community deeply connected to nature and their traditions.
