Preparation and Departure 🥾

At daybreak, we leave the lodge in a 4x4. The one-hour drive through villages and rice fields takes us to Badhaiya Lake.

Morning 🐟

The walk around the lake reveals the richness of this ecosystem. Between birdsong, light dancing on the water, and the silhouettes of Tharu fishermen, every step invites observation. We take the time to admire, photograph, and soak in the peaceful atmosphere.

Lunch 🍴

A delicious stop awaits at the Tharu traditional lakeside restaurant, where you can enjoy local flavors, including freshly caught fish from the lake.

Afternoon 🌄

Next, we head to the Khairapur Reserve, where Blackbuck antelopes roam freely. Depending on your preference, you can climb the observation tower to take in the entire landscape, stroll along the trails, or lie in the grass and wait for the animals to approach.

At the end of the day, we return to the lodge, still immersed in the sights and sounds of this nature-filled adventure.

During the monsoon, its waters overflow, reshaping the landscape and attracting an astonishing variety of wildlife. Key species to observe include black-and-white storks, egrets, sarus cranes, pheasants, Bengal floricans, great hornbills, and cormorants—an open-air natural ballet that will captivate birdwatchers and photographers alike.
